Cyberbullying and Internet addiction

What is Cyberbullying?
well, cyberbullying is when someone is being bullied over devices or over the media. The most common way of someone being cyberbullied is over the internet. For example, someone can create a blog, 'specially' for someone they do not like, just so that they can criticize the person they do not like. The blog can be filled with pictures about that someone, and they will write mean things about that person. Also, the victim might receive message via the handphone, which are from an unknown person. Usually, the things said in the message or the blog, can 'destroy' someone's self confidence and they would have low self esteem. Thus, they might feel low about themselves and some may even end their lives. Some people cyberbully others just for the fun of it, or it is because they want to make life miserable for that person as they do not like that person. The victim can seek help from their teachers, school principal or their parents. In some serious cases, the victim might even inform the police.
An example of a cyber bullying case is such that someone is being bullied via the internet and/or being sent messages via the handphone. The victim is unsure of who the bully can be as the messages are sent are unnamed.
The after-effects of cyber-bullying is such that the person will feel very sad, or depressed. Their work in school will start to regress and they will have no self confidence and will have very low self esteem. Thus, feeling bad about themselves. They know that they are being embarrassed and that almost everyone knows about what the bully has said about them, as the mean comments could be posted on facebook or a blog. As this is a public domain, everyone will know about the victim. Thus, embarrassing the victim even further.

Internet addiction
As the name suggests, internet addiction is when someone is addicted to the internet. For example, some people might get 'hooked' on a particular game on the internet, and they might just keep playing and playing the game, without stopping. These people will start neglecting all the studies, friends and families. And also, some might even neglect their sleep. Thus, they spend the whole day playing the computer. Some people will 'buy items' from the game, using real money. The items in the game can most probably be used to help the character in the game 'level up' , or help the character improve in the game as well. Most of the time, people are addicted to games on the internet, or they will watch movies on the internet. As some people are addicted to shows, like korean drama, they might start watching the shows on the computer, if they are unable to watch it on the television. Internet addiction is bad for your health. As the saying goes, too much of a good thing, isn't a good thing. If you are addicted to something, in this case, the something refers to the internet, the internet will probably prevent you from sleeping or having fun outdoors, as you are stuck in the room, playing the computer. You might fall ill without enough sleep. Also, the internet addiction will probably 'break your family apart' , as well as your friendships. Your family and friends will feel very worried about you and they will try to help you break this habit. Also, people addicted to the internet tend to have bad temper. This is so as they might not get what they want on the internet. When this happens, they will be very angry with themselves or the computer. They might also get angry as the computer or internet 'lags', thus slowing them down.

PL Values

GRACE values in our school stand for :
G- Godliness. To live a life that is pleasing to God, virtuous and upright
R- Respect .To respect self, others and be respected by society
A- All round excellence in everything we do, to be resilient and innovative
C- Commitment. To be faithful, responsible and dedicated in performing one's roles
E- Enthusiasm. TO live life with purpose.
What I feel about : GODLINESS
I feel that it is right, to live a life that pleases God. When we live a life that is pleasing to God, we are also living a life that is pleasing to others as what God wants us to do in life, is good! :D When we follow in God's footsteps, we are living a life that is pleasing to God and we will be virtuous and upright. That means that we are not corrupt and will be good children of God! Though someone might question why we are being such ' good children', we should not bother what others think and continue doing what is right, for we know that what is right and that we should not follow in the 'bad footsteps' of others, who might not be right about doing certain things.

What I feel about : RESPECT
Respect is an everyday aspect that we should have in our lives. I think that it is right for our school to instill the value of respect into each and every PL Lite! When we are respectful to others, other people will learn to respect us too. However, we should not respect others for all the wrong reasons. For example, we should be respectful to others because we want others to respect us. That way, others will realise why we are being respectful, then, they would not be respectful to us. We should be respectful to others because it is right for us to do so. We should respect everyone, not only the elderly, as everyone deserves respect. Besides respecting others, we should also respect ourselves. For example, some people are not respecting themselves by 'selling their bodes' and they slash themselves. They are not respecting themselves and their bodies and their bodies are temples of God. Thus, they are not respecting themselves.

What I feel about : ALL ROUND EXCELLENCE
We should always try our best in whatever we do, even though we are not good at it. As long as we try our best, we are already doing the best we can so we are good. When we do well in school, and do well in other things, for example, art, we are following the value, ALL ROUND EXCELLENCE! We can be innovative by thinking of new creative ideas to improve our schools, country and ourselves. By being innovative, we are also following the value of all round excellence.

What I feel about : COMMITMENT
I must be committed to cca by helping out in respecting our seniors and not talk when they are talking. be commited to studying by not getting distracted when people are talking. For example, when the exams are coming, we should remain committed to our CCA, by not skipping the CCA practice times to study. Everyone has the same amount of time to study and as such, we should make the best of the time we have to study and make full use of the time we have to study. We should be committed to what we think and what we know is best and as such, we should not follow what others think, even if it is supposedly ' in ' We should be committed to what we think and know and so, we should be committed to what we think and know that is right.

What I feel about : ENTHUSIASM
Being enthusiastic is very important, as it shows that we are interested in the thing that we are doing. For example, we should be enthusiastic in PE lessons when we are playing games, even though we hate playing games. we should know that playing games in PE lessons are fun! even though we think that it isn't. we should not slack and try our best to enjoy the game.!
